Trivan: The success of the Telekom Serbia Group is the result of operations throughout the entire Western Balkans region
For the country of Serbia and the Telekom Serbia Group, the most profitable investment has proven to be in the countries of the Western Balkans. Confirmation of this is the company m:tel, which to date stands as Serbia’s largest foreign investment and whose business results are on par with leading European telecom operators. Investing in the region, besides being politically sensible, is also economically rewarding – this is the assessment of the CEO of m:tel, Jelena Trivan, within the panel discussion ‘One Region, One Market’ at this year’s ‘Jahorina Economic Forum,’ where the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Staša Košarac, and businessmen from the region also spoke.
Speaking about positive examples of regional integration, Trivan emphasized that all economic sectors should follow the example of successful telecommunications integration in the region, which occurred with the abolition of roaming charges in Western Balkan countries.
“I am part of a telecommunications group that operates in both the European Union and the Western Balkans. One reason for the success of our group is the fact that we operate in a common market, without telecommunications barriers, and reach customers in markets that others cannot. As such, we are more competitive in the European market, considering that a large number of our people live there and would prefer the services of such a group and be able to live and work in Europe and the Western Balkans without barriers,” said Trivan, emphasizing that cooperation is an economic imperative for all countries in the region, which, along with the European Union, are each other’s main trading partners.
The general sponsor of this year’s ‘Jahorina Economic Forum’ is the company m:tel.
