Jorge Alberto Diaz Rivera is a founding Partner and senior Advisor, Operations and Development at QUADRIAN a multi-sector strategic advisory firm with clients in infrastructure development, special economic zones, new energy technologies and venture backed startups.
He is a registered lawyer in his country of origin, Colombia. While studying law, Jorge chose to expand his focus towards FDI, development, and foreign trade, and has since dedicated almost exclusively to the promotion of these channels of economic growth through his work with the Colombian legislature and with the economic decision makers of the LATAM, Middle East, Africa, and European regions. During his 18 years of international experience, he has specialized in Special Economic Zones and FDI promotion, as well as developing partnerships and connecting key investors with markets and companies.
Currently Jorge is also head of QUADRIAN advisory, leading the effort to promote sustainable companies and new trends in the Free Zone ecosystem. He also acts as the head consultant regarding Special Economic Zones and FDI promotion.
Previously, Jorge was the International Project Manager and Director of the World Free Zone Congress of Barcelona Free Zone (CZFB), a 100% Government owned free zone that promotes 4.0 technology-based industries. He was also the Membership and Compliance Director of the World Free Zone Organization (WFZO) from 2015 to 2019 an initiative led by the Dubai Government and based in the UAE.
Jorge was also the first executive director of the Latin American Free Zone association (AZFA) in which he coordinated the efforts to implement best practices in free zones and to present a global offer to investors and companies.
He has worked as Foreign Investment advisor at Procolombia and as Constitutional advisor for the Law office of the Colombian Senate. Earlier in his career Jorge acted as legal advisor on industrial property law and as a professor of foreign trade in Sergio Arboleda University in Bogota Colombia.
